Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 26, 2026
Firearm ownership data is sensitive. Rangium is built to collect as little as possible, to never sell your data, and to keep you in control. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Our privacy principles
- Minimal collection. Sensitive details such as serial numbers are optional — you can use Rangium without entering them.
- Never sold. We do not sell or rent your personal or inventory data, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Not a registry. Rangium is a private tool for you, not a database we make available to third parties.
- Your control. You can export your firearm records, and request deletion of your account and data.
What we collect
- Account information: email, username, display name, and (optionally) profile details you choose to add.
- Content you enter: firearms, ammunition, range sessions, maintenance records, plans, listings, and community posts.
- Usage data: basic logs and analytics needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.
Sensitive firearm data
Details such as serial numbers are optional. We do not require them, we do not display them publicly, and we never include them in marketplace listings unless you explicitly choose to. We restrict internal access to your inventory data to what is necessary to operate the service.
How we use your data
- To provide core features — inventory, range planning, reconciliation, maintenance reminders, community, and listings.
- To process subscriptions and payments through our payment processor.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
AI features
When you use AI features (for example, the Vanta assistant), the message text you submit is sent to our AI provider (currently OpenAI) to generate a response. AI output is always presented as a draft for your review — it never modifies your records without your explicit approval. Avoid including sensitive identifiers (such as serial numbers) in messages you don't want processed by the model.
Who we share data with
We share data only with service providers needed to run Rangium, under contract and limited to their function:
- Hosting and database — to store your account and content.
- Payment processing (Stripe) — to handle subscriptions. Rangium does not store full card numbers.
- AI provider (OpenAI) — to power assistant features, limited to the content you submit.
- Sign-in providers (Google, Apple) — only if you choose to sign in with them.
We do not sell your data or share it with data brokers or advertisers.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and encrypted at rest by our infrastructure providers. We use access controls and follow reasonable safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but protecting sensitive ownership data is a core design goal, and we continue to strengthen it.
Your rights and choices
- Export: download your firearm records from the app.
- Delete: request deletion of your account and associated data by emailing privacy@rangium.com.
- Access and correction: view and update the information in your account.
Law-enforcement requests
We disclose data only when required by valid legal process or to protect safety as permitted by law. Where we are lawfully able to do so, we will notify affected users. We do not provide bulk or proactive access to user inventory data.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. When you delete your account, we remove your content within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
Children
Rangium is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
