Just got my first hunting rifle — bolt-action .308 for deer, what now?

Picked up a Tikka T3x in .308 as my first centerfire rifle for deer season this fall. I shoot handguns regularly but rifles are new territory for me. I've got a decent scope picked out but I'm unsure about break-in, load selection, and how much practice from field positions I really need before opening day. Any advice from experienced hunters on getting it dialed before the season?

Practice from field positions — kneeling, sitting, off sticks — not just the bench. That's where deer get missed.
Tikka is an outstanding first rifle, you bought above your skill level in the best way. Congrats.
Skip elaborate barrel break-in, just clean it, find a load it likes, and confirm zero. Tikkas usually shoot anything well.
Get comfortable being steady and patient. Shot placement on game matters way more than tiny groups on paper.
Pick one good 150-165gr hunting load, sight in 2" high at 100, and learn your drops out to your max range.
