Long-term holster wear test: kydex vs hybrid after a hot, sweaty summer of carrying

I carry every day in a humid climate and wanted to share how my two main holsters held up after a brutal summer. The full-kydex AIWB rig wiped clean and shrugged off sweat like nothing happened, retention is exactly the same as day one. My leather-backed hybrid was way more comfortable against bare skin but the leather absorbed sweat, started curling at the edges, and the comfort eventually went downhill. My takeaway: hybrids feel nicer at first but in serious heat and humidity, full kydex is the durable long-haul choice. Curious if others in dry climates had a different experience.

A undershirt/carry shirt between you and a kydex holster gets you most of the comfort without the leather degradation. Best of both worlds for me.
Appreciate the long-term test. Everyone reviews holsters after a week. The summer-of-sweat angle is way more useful for those of us in the south.
Dry-climate counterpoint: my hybrid has held up beautifully for years out west. So this really is a humidity thing more than a holster-quality thing.
Matches my experience exactly. Sweat is the enemy of leather-backed hybrids. Down here in the Gulf states full kydex is basically the only thing that survives.
The retention staying identical on the kydex is the real selling point. Sweat-soaked leather can soften and lose retention over time, which is a safety issue, not just comfort.
