How often do you actually clean a carry gun? Be honest.

I keep seeing two camps: the 'clean after every single range trip or it'll fail' people and the 'modern guns run filthy, clean it when it complains' people. My EDC is a carried-daily striker pistol that gets shot maybe twice a month. Right now I wipe it down and re-lube weekly because it lives against sweat all day, and do a full detail clean every few hundred rounds. Where do you all really land, not where the manual says?

Carry gun is different from a range toy. The sweat and lint are the enemy, not carbon. I wipe down and check the lube weekly too, full clean less often.
Lube migrates and dries out faster than people think, especially in the chamber. Carbon rarely causes malfunctions, dry rails do. Lube matters more than scrubbing.
Check your carry ammo too while you're at it. Repeatedly chambering the same round sets back the bullet. Rotate the top round so you're not bashing one case over and over.
I ran a Glock to 2,000 rounds dirty just to prove a point and it never hiccuped. That said, a CARRY gun I keep clean because reliability is the whole point of carrying.
Detail clean every few hundred rounds is reasonable. The 'clean every trip' crowd is often just enjoying the ritual, which is fine, but it's not strictly necessary.
