Mom of two, finally got serious about storage — quick-access safe recommendations?

I've owned a pistol for years but stored it lazily, which I'm not proud of now that my kids are 4 and 7 and into everything. I want something I can open fast in the dark but that a curious kid absolutely cannot get into. Leaning toward a biometric nightstand safe but I've read mixed things about fingerprint reliability. What are you all actually using that's held up?

Honest take: biometrics are convenience, the simplex push-button mechanical safes never fail and work in the dark with gloves. I trust mine more than any battery.
Whatever you buy, also start teaching the kids the Eddie Eagle 'Stop, Don't Touch, Leave, Tell an Adult' stuff. Curiosity drops a lot once the mystery is gone.
RSC-rated quick safes are mostly pry-resistant against kids, not adults, so bolt it down. A 7 year old can't open it but also can't walk off with it.
I switched from biometric to a Vaultek with the fingerprint AND a backup code, because cold/dry fingers failed on me more than once. Redundancy is key.
Good on you for fixing it now instead of after something happened. That's the whole job.
