Strongly recommend not putting your finger anywhere near the trigger until you're on target, even in dry fire. Groove the same habits you'd want live.
Triple check the gun is empty, no ammo anywhere in the room, point at a safe backstop like an exterior wall or a loaded bookshelf, and NEVER reholster fast in dry practice. Slow and deliberate on the reholster is where people get hurt in live fire.
Set a hard rule: when dry practice is over, it's OVER. Most ADs happen on 'just one more rep' after you've already reloaded the gun. Walk away.
Make a verbal ritual. I say 'this gun is clear' out loud every single time before I start. Sounds silly, but the routine is what saves you on the day your brain is on autopilot.
Snap caps are great for this so the striker isn't slamming on an empty chamber every rep. Also gives you a visual that the chamber isn't holding a live round.
