Signed up for a 2-day defensive handgun course with a well-reviewed local instructor, about $450 and roughly 700 rounds. The first day was all fundamentals and diagnostics, day two moved into drawing, movement, and shooting on the move. Worth every penny — my biggest takeaway was how much a coach watching your grip in real time beats anything you can self-diagnose. Only complaint was the range got cold and we lost some time to weather.

Sounds like a well-structured class. The fundamentals-first approach is the sign of a good instructor. The hacks who skip straight to 'tactical' stuff aren't worth your money.
This is the kind of review the community needs. The defensive training space is full of mall ninjas, good to hear about a legit one.
700 rounds over two days is a good volume. Did they cover malfunction clearing? That's the thing people skip and then panic over at the worst time.
The cold weather thing is real. I took a winter class once and learned a ton about how my hands and gear behave when I'm freezing, which is its own useful lesson honestly.
