Review: Surefire X300U-A after two years of weekly range and a duty-style class

Figured I'd write up an honest long-term review since I leaned on these threads before buying. The X300U-A has lived on my home-defense pistol for two years, gets dry-fired against constantly, took a 16-hour low-light class, and has never flickered or lost zero on the gun. Output is plenty for inside-the-house distances and the rocker switch is intuitive under stress. Only gripes: it's pricey and the tail-cap can loosen slightly if you don't snug it, so I check it during cleaning. Would I buy it again? Yes, no hesitation.

Glad you mentioned testing it in an actual low-light class. So many people buy a WML and never train switching it on under pressure. Light discipline matters as much as the light.
For folks on a budget the Streamlight TLR-1 HL is also excellent and a good bit cheaper. Not knocking Surefire, just saying you don't have to spend X300 money to get a reliable light.
Solid writeup. The loosening tailcap is real, a tiny dab of blue loctite on the threads fixed it permanently for me.
How's the holster availability for that combo? That's always my hesitation with weapon lights, finding a good kydex option.
Two years and no zero shift, that's the part that sells me. Thanks for the honest take on the price.
