A sling is a holster for a long gun. If you ever have to open a door, hold a phone, or move a family member, you'll want hands free without setting the rifle down. Get one.
Even at home, retention matters. If someone gets hands on your rifle a sling keeps it attached to you. That alone sold me.
I'd skip a sling on a dedicated nightstand gun personally, less to snag in the dark. But I'm in the minority here and I do run one once I'm taking it to class.
Get the sling AND practice with it. A sling you've never adjusted in the dark is just a tripping hazard.
Two-point with a quick adjuster (Vickers, Blue Force, whatever) is the standard for a reason. You can cinch it tight for retention or loosen to shoulder it. Not overthinking it, it's genuinely useful.
