Don't transfer or sell any of the standard-cap mags once you're a resident, that's where people get into trouble. Owning vs transferring are two different things there.
Did this move two years ago from Dallas. Honestly nobody inspected anything, but I'd still want documentation if I ever needed it. Better to have it and not need it.
Colorado's mag cap is 15 rounds and possession of pre-ban mags you already owned is generally allowed, but the smart move is to keep proof you owned them before you became a resident. I kept my original receipts in a folder just in case.
FWIW the law has been challenged and tweaked over the years so double-check the current statute before you load up the truck. Things change.
Worth calling a local FFL in your new town once you land. They deal with new-resident questions constantly and tend to know the practical reality, not just the statute.
