I run it cold at the start of every range trip. No warmup. It tells me where I actually am that day, not where I am after 100 rounds.
Dot Torture at distance is a great honesty test. Start at 3 yards until you can clean it, then move back a yard at a time. Most people start way too far back and just get frustrated.
Two years and not cleaning it at 5 is totally normal. Plenty of experienced shooters can't. It's a marathon target.
Pro tip: it's a slow-fire accuracy drill, not a speed drill. Take the time you need on each dot. The clock isn't the test, the hits are.
The strong-hand and weak-hand only dots are where I bleed points every single time. Humbling is the right word.
