Honestly the 10-round divisions are a fun challenge and level the field. You'll be fine, just rebuild your mag situation legally.
Do NOT bring your standard-cap mags into the state. Get rid of them or leave them out of state before you become a resident. The penalties aren't worth it.
Local clubs out there are very used to onboarding transplants. Show up to a match and the regulars will walk you through what's compliant.
CA shooters compete all the time, you'll just be running 10-round mags in most cases. Limited and Production-style setups adapt fine, you'll reload more.
Your roster-legal handguns matter too, check the CA handgun roster before assuming your gun can even be purchased there. Bringing one you already own is different from buying new.
