Caught a stacked deal on a Ruger 10/22, rebate plus store sale

My local sporting goods store had the Ruger 10/22 carbine on sale for $229, and Ruger happened to be running a mail-in rebate at the same time, so after the rebate it's effectively under $190. Picked one up as a trainer for my daughter who's just getting into shooting. Cheap to feed, soft recoil, and the aftermarket is endless. Hard to think of a better first rifle deal right now.

Mine ran fine stock for years before I touched it. Resist the urge to mod it right away, just shoot it.
Great choice for a young shooter. Light, reliable, and bulk .22 is still affordable. Have fun out there.
Get a couple BX-15 mags and a brick of CCI Standard Velocity and you're set for a whole summer of fun.
Rebate plus sale is the way. Always check the manufacturer rebate page before buying, people leave money on the table constantly.
10/22 is the perfect starter rifle. Mine's been running since the 90s. You can't go wrong.
