I carry a small portable lockbox that cables to something immovable in the room, like the closet rod bracket or a heavy fixture. Room safes are too easy to defeat.
Check the state and even the specific hotel's policy first. Some properties technically prohibit firearms, which can matter if something goes sideways.
Factor in which states you're driving through too. The overnight storage question gets a lot more complicated if your route crosses a restrictive state where the gun has to stay unloaded and locked.
Never leave it in a car overnight in a hotel lot if you can avoid it. Vehicle break-ins in hotel lots are a top source of stolen guns.
Honestly I keep it on or near me as much as possible and use a bedside lockbox at night. The portable safe with a steel cable is the move when I leave the room.
