Let her set the pace and never push the 9mm if she's not ready. The goal of trip one is that she wants a trip two. Bonus: she'll probably outshoot you on the bullseye and love it.
Get her her own eye and ear pro that fits HER, not your spares. Electronic muffs so you can coach her without yelling. Comfort and fit make a huge difference for a first-timer.
Bring a couple different targets, including some fun reactive ones. Hitting a steel plate that goes ding is way more rewarding than a paper bullseye for someone new.
Keep the first session short. 30-45 minutes max. New shooters get mentally fatigued fast and you want her leaving wanting more, not exhausted.
Start with the four rules on the kitchen table before you ever leave the house. Let her handle the unloaded .22 at home until it feels normal in her hands. The range is loud and stressful, so front-load the safety talk where it's calm.
.22 first, full stop. Let her get comfortable and confident before the 9mm ever comes out. If she's smiling on the .22, you've already won.
