Five years in: the gear I regret buying and what actually mattered

Going through the safe this weekend made me realize how much money I wasted early on chasing internet hype. The regrets: a pile of gadget holsters, three different 'tactical' slings, and an expensive optic on a gun I never shoot. What actually mattered: a couple hundred dollars of professional training, a ton of dry fire, and one good belt-and-holster setup I've used daily for years. If I could do it over I'd spend less on gear and more on ammo and instruction.

Counterpoint, sort of: one good optic on a gun you DO shoot is worth it. The mistake was mounting it on the safe queen, not the optic itself.
Hard agree on training over gear. A class made me a better shooter in a weekend than a year of buying stuff did.
The holster graveyard is a universal experience. Every shooter has a shoebox of $40 mistakes. Training is the only thing that ever paid me back.
Dry fire is free and nobody does enough of it. I'd add a shot timer to your 'actually mattered' list, it exposed every weakness in my game.
Saving this to send to my brother-in-law who just bought three guns and zero lessons.
