Range officers love new shooters who ask questions. Walk up, tell them it's your first time, and they'll be happy to help. Bring eye pro, ear pro, your gun, a couple boxes of ammo, and a few targets if they don't sell them.
Don't buy bulk ammo for your first trip. Get one or two boxes, see how the gun runs, and make sure you actually enjoy it before stocking up. Also bring water, indoor ranges can get warm and loud and overwhelming.
Honestly the only way you look like an idiot is by NOT asking. Keep that muzzle pointed downrange and finger off the trigger until you're ready and you'll be ahead of half the people there.
You'll be fine. My first trip I was shaking and now it's my favorite thing. Take it slow, breathe, and have fun.
Pro tip: load only 5 rounds at a time when you start. Less to manage, and it lets you focus on fundamentals instead of just blasting through a mag.
